DAY 1: WELCOME TO PERU (International flight to Lima).

A Cultural Peru representative will await the arrival of your international flight to welcome you and accompany you to the hotel to assist you with all check-in procedures..

DAY 2: LIMA - TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE (Flight Lima to Puerto Maldonado).

A representative from Cultural Peru will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, 2 hours and a half before the departure of your flight, to help you with the check out and then accompany you to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival you will be greeted by Refugio Amazonas staff. This refuge is further into the jungle for a more authentic experience with more wildlife viewing opportunities.

To get to Refugio Amazonas, you have to travel by road to boarding (about 45 minutes) before the two and a half hour boat ride.

DAY 3: TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE (Activities in the Amazon Rainforest).

After you have been awakened by the first songs of the birds and the early rising sun, you will enjoy a nutritious breakfast, including local fruits and juices, before leaving for the first excursion of the day. Head out to a U-shaped lake where you'll paddle around in a wooden boat, looking for lakeside wildlife like hoatzins, alligators and animas cornuta. Hopefully, you will also be rewarded with macaw sightings at the top. A thirty minute walk from Refugio Amazonas leads to the scaffolding canopy tower of 25 meters. once at the top, you will enjoy toucan sighting, parrots or macaws flying along the horizon. After lunch, head five minutes downriver to a farm owned and run by the charismatic Don Manuel from the neighboring community of Condenado. Grow a diverse variety of crops, popular and unknown Amazonian plants and trees, most of which have a purpose. along this path, you will find a variety of plants and trees that are used by the local population for medicinal purposes. After dinner, enjoy an informative presentation on conservation threats, opportunities and projects in the Tambopata National Reserve from a Refugio Amazonas staff member.

DAY 4: TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE (Activities in the Amazon Rainforest).

After breakfast, enjoy a ride 15 minutes by boat and an hour's walk to a mud lick used by both parrots and parakeets. Here you will see dozens of parrots and parakeets ingesting the clay on the river bank. Then, return to the lodge for lunch. Just a few minutes walk from the lodge is a beautiful old patch of Brazil chestnut forest that has been harvested for decades. Here, your guide will demonstrate the entire process of the only sustainably harvested product from the jungle. a walk of 20 minutes will take you to a peccary clay lick where wild pigs from the rain forest appear in herds of five to twenty. Other wild animals can also be seen, like deer, guan and parakeets. After dinner, you will have the option to participate in a night walk to see mammals and frogs with shapes and sounds as strange as their natural histories.

DAY 5: TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE - SACRED VALLEY (Flight to Cusco).

after breakfast, board your boat for the return trip to the river port, where you will be transferred overland to Puerto Maldonado to collect your luggage and prepare for your flight to Cuzco. Depending on airline schedules, this may require sunrise departures.

Upon arrival at Cusco airport, You will be met by a representative from Cultural Peru and will start approximately an hour and a half in your private transportation to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.. In the path, your guide will brief you on planned activities and answer any questions you may have.

DAY 6: SACRED VALLEY - FORTRESS OF OLLANTAYTAMBO (Lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari).

In the morning your guide and your private transport will pick you up from your hotel to visit the fabulous town of Ollantaytambo and its archaeological sites.. It is a unique town that preserves its original Inca urban planning, where now the inhabitants live in the traditional enclosures known as courts, previously inhabited by the elite of the Incas. The archaeological complex is a sensational sight for the eyes and has a lot of historical significance. During the Spanish conquest, one of the great battles of the Conquest took place here and one of the few where the Incas defeated the Spanish. DAY 7: SACRED VALLEY - MACCHU PICCHU (Tren Belmond Hiram Bingham).

Hoy, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven by a private vehicle approx. 1 hour to the train station in Poroy to start your trip to Machu Picchu. The Belmond Hiram Bingham Train, departing from Poroy station, guarantees the highest quality of an exquisite and attentive service. Enjoy views of the beautiful mountains and the Urubamba River from the comfort of warm and elegant cars before arriving in Aguas Calientes, where you will then board the bus for an uphill ride to your final destination.

DAY 8: VISIT OF THE WONDERFUL MACHU PICCHU - CUZCO (Vistadome Train Back to Cuzco).

This morning, catch an early bus for an activity-filled day at the ruins. Depending on your interests, a variety of walks are available. Head to Inti Punku, O “Sun Gate”. Another option is to do an intense walk to Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind Machu Picchu, offering unique and breathtaking views of the ruins below. From here you can extend your walk to the mysterious Temple of the Moon, an exquisite example of Inca masonry. Alternatively, you can choose to climb to the top of Machu Picchu mountain, located south of the archaeological site and offering spectacular panoramic views from above.

After your visit to Machu Picchu, you will take a bus to the city of Aguas Calientes to take the Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo. This train features spectacular panoramic windows with incredible panoramic views, that connect you with the magnificent landscapes and offer you ample opportunities to photograph this incredible journey. Arriving at the Ollantaytambo train station, will be received by a representative of Aracari and transferred approximately 2 hours to your hotel in Cuzco.

DAY 9: CUZCO CITY TOUR - CUZCO HIGHLIGHTS AND CULINARY EXPERIENCE

In the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to start your tour of the city of Cuzco. You will start the tour visiting the Temple of the Sun, “Qoricancha”, located on the main Avenida El Sol (sun avenue). This Inca site was one of the most worshiped and respected temples of the Inca Empire. Then we will know different squares “plazas” from the city: arms square, Rejoicing and Saint Francis. after our visits, we will explore the local neighborhood of San Blas, which is the most picturesque and where you will find many art galleries and enjoy local contemporary art. * If you want to make your city tour more adventurous, you can do it by bike at no additional cost. Please, let us know if you want this option and we can provide you with the bikes and equipment.
